Pavilion concept inspired by kirigami and Solange’s Metatronia – sculptural folded form and ceremonial structure

The Kirigami Pavilion reimagines the Japanese paper-folding technique known Kirigami as an interactive performance space, inspired by Solange Knowles’s Metatronia (2018). Designed as a stage, installation, or ceremonial space, its stair-like formations allow free movement while enhancing the play of light and shadow. The challenge was maintaining Kirigami’s delicate aesthetic while ensuring structural integrity. This project merges performance art, architecture, and conceptual design, creating an immersive, sculptural environment.
